BF6 Gamers Agree: Tasks Are Way Too Hard
The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received broad praise, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.
Users have commenced turning to personalized games created through the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Tasks
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. It features four categories of assignments, but where most only reward outfits and select equipment, finishing the gun missions is the only way of acquiring 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.
Several of these restricted firearms may soon earn a place on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration on Reddit
Within Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This task is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and only works at very short distances, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Ridiculously Tough Mission
A different forum member pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with sniper rifles
This is challenging enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, Mirak Valley, and maybe an additional option at a push if you want to snipe from over 200m away.
The Alternative Method
Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.
Yet, if tackling the tasks in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for finishing these in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?
Upcoming Tweaks
It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are made easier in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.
Currently, the player base continues to express their views on these demanding multiplayer missions, anticipating a fairer player experience in future updates.
