Eddie Hearn Threatens Legal Action Against Eubank Jr Following Disruption Allegations
Eddie Hearn has threatened to take legal action targeting Chris Eubank Jr, following the boxer alleged his rival’s camp of using dirty tricks and deliberate disruption ahead of their upcoming second bout.
Fighter’s Accusations
The boxer, who won their initial fight by clear judges’ verdict, stated that an ambulance carrying him to hospital after the bout was prevented from leaving for 20 minutes.
“They did everything in an attempt to destroy me in that previous bout,” Eubank Jr stated. “Contract breaches, financial penalties, rehydration clauses, disrupted pre-fight checks, one-sided broadcast remarks and officiating. Their actions goes on.”
He also claimed that his support staff were blocked from accessing the stadium and that stadium guards tried to slow down his arrival on purpose.
Strong Denial
Eddie Hearn rejected the allegations as “waffle” and threatened legal consequences unless Eubank Jr retracts his statements.
“He is unaware is that we possess official records on fight night, it’s there documented clearly,” the promoter stated.
He added, “He will be making a public retraction, or we’ll be taking legal action. These accusations personally. Our reputation is second to none.”
Family Legacy
This conflict between both boxers originates in a decades-old family rivalry starting 35 years ago during which their fathers, Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn, faced off in two epic bouts.
Remembering a Boxing Legend
During the press conference, Conor Benn paid tribute to recently deceased boxer Ricky Hatton, after being discovered deceased at his home at the age of 46.
“Hatton represented somebody who really supported me professionally and a person that welcomed me like a father figure,” Benn shared. “I felt comforted when I didn’t have a home. He meant everything for my development.”
Looking Ahead to the Rematch
The rematch, billed as “Unresolved Matters,” is set to take place on 15 November at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Eubank Jr has enlisted new trainer Brian McIntyre in his corner, while Benn promised to return as a improved version than before.
The trainer noted, “It’s likely this will be somewhat less challenging this time. He already figured him out.”
Benn retorted with a dismissive comment: “It’s amusing that you hired an additional coach in, since you know that he’ll need it.”
