Heaton Park Synagogue Attack: A Casualty Appears to Have Been Shot by Officers
During a tragic development, one of the individuals killed during the Manchester synagogue attack appears to have been shot dead by armed police officers.
Official Statement Confirms Firearm Injury
The senior officer from the local force stated that the Home Office pathologist has initially concluded the man died of a bullet injury.
“We sought guidance overnight from forensic specialists before full postmortem examinations scheduled for later today. The expert has advised that he has provisionally determined a victim would appear to have suffered a injury consistent with a firearm wound.”
Attacker Information
The suspect, a 35-year-old individual, did not have a firearm, and all discharged rounds were by authorized firearms personnel on site.
Authorities think the victim was part of the group behind the synagogue door trying to stop the assailant from entering the building.
Consequences of Police Action
“It follows therefore pending further forensic examination, this injury may sadly have been sustained as a tragic and unforeseen consequence of the urgently required action taken by my officers to bring this vicious attack to an end.”
Victims Identified
The two victims killed in the attack during the synagogue incident located in Manchester on Thursday were identified as Adrian Daulby, aged 53 and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz.
These individuals lost their lives when a vehicle was employed to crash through the grounds of the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue, before the attacker targeted attendees in a six-minute rampage that concluded after armed officers fired upon him, killing him near the synagogue entrance.
Further Harm
Three more people were seriously injured in the violent act on the Day of Atonement, the holiest day in the Jewish year.
Watson said, “We have also been advised that another injured person currently receiving treatment has also suffered a firearm injury, which is fortunately non-fatal. It is believed both victims were near each other at the entrance, as attendees showed courage to stop the assailant from getting inside.”

“We extend our condolences are directed toward the affected relatives, and broader public, touched by this incident in the region and elsewhere. Specialist officers are providing support and care for all of those directly affected, including the courageous emergency teams.”
Attacker Profile
Authorities identified the perpetrator as the individual, 35, a UK national of Syrian descent.
Local law enforcement said that three other people – two men in their 30s and a woman in her 60s – had been detained “for alleged involvement in planning of terrorist activities”.
