The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Arrives, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the far corners of the universe. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The feature will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is set to release near the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
The company has three new games publicly declared for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
